How does it work?
Dimethylglycine or DMG is an amino acid found naturally in animal and plant cells. Studies show that it speeds up the removal of lactic acid from your body. This allows for faster recovery, fewer aches and pains, and improved training performance. Soviet scientific literature also shows increased oxygen utilisation by muscle, improvements in explosive speed, and protection against damage to the connective tissue surrounding joints.
Who is it used for?
DMG has been shown to be highly beneficial for endurance athletes, such as long-distance runners, cyclists, triathletes, footballers and rugby players.
How does it work?
DMG has long been used by athletes to improve overall performance and endurance, to enhance oxygen utilisation, and improve recovery after strenuous exercise. Nutritionally oriented doctors use DMG to deal with fatigue, to enhance blood sugar metabolism, improve liver function and strengthen the cardiovascular system [3].

One of the most exciting uses for DMG was discovered by researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina. In a well-controlled study, DMG increased antibody production by more than 400% [2]. The findings were later confirmed at Clemson University in a series of animal experiments [1]. DMG stimulated both branches of the immune system to the extent that they produced a three to five-fold increase in protective antibodies.

Many triathletes, cyclists and long-distance runners use DMG to protect their immune systems, and to ensure they're able to train on a year-round basis without suffering from illness or infection. DMG also acts as a detoxifying agent and antioxidant, protecting body cells from unwanted reactions caused by free radicals. It is extremely non-toxic, and found naturally in low levels in foods like meats, seeds, and grains.
How do I use it?
Approximately 250-300 milligrams of DMG daily for 5-7 days is needed to produce a noticeable effect on endurance and stamina.
What results can I expect?
Short-term (5-7 days) use of DMG will enhance the ability of athletes competing in endurance-based sports (long-distance running, cycling or triathlon) to run faster for longer. Long-term use (3 months or longer) will also strengthen the immune system and reduce the incidence of illness or infection.
What can it be combined with?
Though DMG is a highly effective supplement taken alone, there are reports of athletes competing at the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 combining it with phosphates, which themselves have been shown to boost endurance and stamina. Both supplements are currently legal.
